Unfortunately, I’ll have to echo much of what you’ve read in the negative reviews below — you get a sales pitch on the quality and longetivity of what you’re buying at the time of sale, then a different story when you have a problem.

I wish I could give zero stars. We have recently moved into a house and have been shopping around for some furniture. We had gone to VCF two weekends ago and saw a couch we liked for $699.00. We had just started shopping, so decided we'd keep looking for a bit. We ultimately decided this past weekend to go back and see if we still liked the couch. We did, and it was still tagged for $699.00 plus 10% for their veterans day sale. In talking things over with the sales girl, she mentioned the price was an old price and it was actually $799.00. We immediately asked if that can be rectified as the tag clearly still said $699.00. The manager on duty walked by, the sales girl asked him about it, he hastily ripped the tag off, said "that's fine" and then said to the sales girl something about it being the fault of whoever had worked on Monday. While we thought his attitude was pretty abrasive, we didn't think much about it and proceeded to the check out process. First, the total they gave us was for the $799.00 with 10% off. We immediately said no, it's supposed to be $699.00 with the 10% off. So the manager comes over, again abrasively, puts a code in, and leaves. The new total the checkout girl gave us was still wrong as it did not reflect the 10% off. So she went in the backroom to speak with the manager, and we could hear him barking that "we're already slashing the price, they're not getting 10% off, we're not going to give them a discount on top of a discount". We ended up walking out. The fact that THEY had the price posted as $699.00 plus 10% off, and still behaved that way is astonishing to me. It was a case of false advertising, and instead of just graciously admitting the error, we were met with abrasive behavior and treated as if it was our fault that it was marked wrong. They attempted to take advantage of us when the error was clearly theirs. This was entirely shady, unacceptable behavior for a business. We will never return and will never recommend VCF to anyone. Could not be more disappointed.

I was a victim of the bonded-leather scam, but I am apparently a year late on getting any real help. At purchase time, I was told that this couch would last as long (and possibly outlast) a genuine leather couch, then when it starts peeling and flaking off, I got the “you’re really lucky and fortunate to have gotten 6 years out of it, so there’s nothing we can do.” There’s a reason they don’t carry bonded leather anymore, they know it’s a problem, they replaced them for other owners, but because mine held up for a couple months longer than other users, I’m “lucky.” I don’t feel very lucky.

Purchased two leather sofas less than two years ago. Each now is worn, wrinkled and has leather cracked/chipping. Save your money for better furniture than this.

FALSE ADVERTISING

I also bought an extended warranty on a different set, but when I went to discuss an internal frame issue (on a replacement of the first one that failed), I was told that my warranty doesn’t cover this particular problem. Why did I buy the best warranty available to me at the time?

I don’t have any pleasure writing a negative review— I really just want to help other consumers avoid their bait-&-switch tactics. I recommend you look elsewhere for furniture.

TOTALLY unsatisfied with disrespectful salesman!! Disappointed we went thru with our purchase. Fool me once ....

There are a lot of different options for furniture, and I highly recommend staying away from Value City in Kalamazoo. They're good at taking the cash out of your wallet and terrible at following through with their promises. Stay away!
