Only recently have I decided to rejoin as an adult. I had been longing to sing in a decent choir, until I called KFPC about auditioning for the choir. Fortunately, I didn't have to audition; the only "prerequisites" were ability to read music, follow director's cues, and sing in tune, which I have done most of my life, including my junior and senior years at Aquinas College. I am a first part alto chorister, and I am one of the younger members, but I don't care. The choir is very well structured. I felt that joining KFPC's choir was the best decision I have made, because when I sing, I feel closer to God.

First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo is no different than any other Church. They still gossip and judge. They only hide it well!

Thanks Be To God~

The music at Sunday services is traditional and intricately harmonized, whilst the music at the Wednesday evening services is contemporary and not so complex. I mainly attend Sunday services because I have a limited schedule.

I have never felt so warmly welcomed in my life.

The main pastor AND the associate pastor are wonderful people, and they always have unique sermons that are relevant to certain scriptures in the Bible. They are also quite friendly and welcoming to people of different ages, races, cultures, disabilities, and sexual orientations, which is indeed crucial. The congregants that I know personally, as well as the staff, have the knack to find values in each person that they get to know. They have treated me very kindly.

I have always loved KFPC's large, Gothic-themed, stained glass-decorated sanctuary and huge pipe organ. Also, the addition of elevators with several panels has been a major factor that made this gorgeous church live up to expectations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. More congregants with limited mobility have been able to attend here without struggling, which I am happy about.

I was baptized at Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church when I was a tiny baby.
