So, aside from being frustrated with an unreliable and unsafe rental that possessed an imminent threat to the safety of me and my family, in numerous occasions we spent more time, trying to get put of snow and doing 50mph on the highway than what we could have spend having a good family time. Yet no one from Avis, has still stepped up to address this matter.
It all started when they first missed the fact that my dad is 57 y/o and charged us for an underage fee of $28 a day for 14 days...Mistake on their end that after over an hour talking to customer service and them not willing to cooperate, a manager finally stepped in and got it resolved, issue that should have never been a situation in the first place, taking family time away from us.
When we finally returned the vehicle, all we’re told is that they apologize for any inconvenience and that we’ll be getting a 10% off the rental (Discount that we never received either) according to the invoice.
The employees were helpful and friendly. Very easy check in and check out. The car was immaculate and fun to drive. Highly recommended!
Getting in touch with this specific location is really difficult. I tried calling this location and it transfers me to their 1-800 customer service center. There customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with. Customer service refused to give me a refund and only offered a 25% refund. They blame the customer for everything. These people do not know how to do business.
NEVER, EVER, EVER rent from this location. It sucks. I will be telling everyone I know who has rented a vehicle from Avis to leave a review on Google. I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience with Avis.
To whom it may concern. My dad and I recently rented from this location for a 2 week family vacation. Turns out that most of those 2 weeks we spent more time dealing with car issues than actually enjoying and having a good time.
If you want to get ripped off, rent your vehicle from Avis. I can assure you, they will steal your money. Just because they have your credit card on file from a previous rental does not mean they have the right to charge 1 month later. They didn't even warn me about the charges before charging my card.
Second, the vehicle we got not only had a tiny windshield crack on the corner before we left the location, which by the way we were told that it did not matter since it was very insignificant; well turns out that the tiny crack also spliced across the whole windshield as well while utilizing the windshield wipers on sub-zero temperatures. But the biggest one yet was that the front tires were so bald that we could clearly see the wire through them (Pictures Attached).
11/29...This is my second review after the bad experience. I was contacted by Avis and they refunded my rental fees. I am waiting to see if i get charged for the roadside service. I am waiting to up the stars until this plays out. 11/20...I got a flat at 8am and called the avis road side service. Four hours later i was exchanging cars. They had made a mistake on the first call to the tow company. I had to cancel work and be on hold for hours, get passed around by people not taking responsibility and in the end was offered an upgrade for the replacement and a $20 discount on my next(?) rental. I lost money, time, and sanity. Not enough. The upgrade costs you nothing and I wont be renting from you again.
I fly over 100k miles per year, and rent cars all over the US, from every company. I have preferred status with multiple companies so I can find the best deals. My experience with the Kalamazoo Avis location was outstanding! Fast, friendly service, and personnel who happily went above and beyond for personal service. Special thanks to Chip for the extra, and friendly, efforts. Avis is my first choice because of this. Again, thanks, and keep up the great work!
It’s awful sad, that management allows this kind of situations to happen by allowing these vehicles on the road (Which allegedly the mate at the counter, at the time of return, informed us that the car had just had recent maintenance and inspection). We’ve been renting from Avis for years now, and have been very pleased with their service considering we have Businesses to rent under and get the better deals; but this situation is certainly unacceptable under any circumstances, and hopefully no one else has to go through what we had to.
One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a rental car company. I got charged $400 for lost keys that I didn't even lose. They acted as if it was all my fault and that I didn't return the vehicle with the keys (how was I able to drive back to this location without the keys).
